Primitai Biography

February 2008 saw the release of the band’s debut album “Through The Gates of Hell” with reviews from national magazines Rock Sound, Kerrang, Powerplay and Zero Tolerance. Planet Thrash named the album “Featured Album of the Month.” Live TV performances on Red TV and Cue Tracks soon followed in support of the release, and in 2008 they featured on Get Ready to Rock’s “Rising stars iTunes podcast” who claimed Primitai were “definitely ones to watch.”

” … Battle hymn themes and 80’s fun. Kickarse!”
Zero Tolerance

“Ball breaking riffs, shredding solo’s, no prisoners taken and metal up your arse”
Kerrang

In 2009 the band entered the UK’s premier BOTB competition, Surface Unsigned, with 20,000 other hopeful bands. The band won every round from April through to September, ultimately being crowned 2009 champions the The O2 final.

“There are few bands you can go and see that put on a show, unless you’ve shelled out £80 quid to see some band at Wembley, but with Primitai you get this huge sound and the art of showmanship rolled into one.”
Surface Unsigned Live Review (September Final)

After winning Surface, the band invested their winnings into a new album, ‘The Line Of Fire’ which was released in October 2010. The band completed their first UK tour in October and November supporting White Wizzard and have since had supported Firewind in January.

“Straight out of the NWOBHM text books. Surprise CD of the week is the best possible way. Twin guitar mannered mania. Ones to watch in 2011″
Malcolm Dome, Classic Rock

“The UK’s finest Unsigned Band show their grit. Eight tracks of adulterated metallic jubilation”
Sam Law, Kerrang

“Primitai have come out with all rock guns blazing, with classic metal riffs, thundering drums, mosh pit rhythms and testosterone filled vocals”
Classic Rock Society

“There’s a real buzz about British thrash metal right now and Primitai have the potential to be right of there with the best”
Music Week

“The band’s influences clearly lean towards the classic old school metal sound, and the likes of ‘The Craft’ and ‘The Line Of Fire’ get fists pumping and heads banging down the front. A great reception for a promising band”
Jim Rowland, Get Ready To Rock

“Primitai have the right ingredients for a band starting out: the confidence, the look, the banter and modesty, but more importantly, are being able to play their instruments bloody well. Great showmanship and wailing duel-guitars certainly warm the crowd up for tonight’s main attraction. Primitai – bringing modern to the old skool.”
Dave Sherwood, Terrorizer

“Primitai are an anthemic proposition, complete with duelling guitar work and cock rock leanings. They are the first band of the night who really occupy the stage thanks to their excitable energy.”
James Hickie, Kerrang

“Taking their cues straight from the textbooks of Judas Priest and Iron Maiden, and the simple fact is people would be going mad over this band if they weren’t British. World domination will be theirs once the current metal gods retire.”
